Day 22 2:40 PM

Seems like the day after we get good news, is always followed by a day of uncertainty and today is no exception. As I wrote in the last entry yesterday, the doctors were encouraged with Brent's lung and took him off the vent. and removed his chest tube.
After more x-ray's this morning it was found that the lung is still partially collapsed. This seems to be due to fluid built up in the chest cavity. A surgeon was called in for consultation to determine if Brent needed the chest operated on and cleaned out. The doctor reviewing his case thought doing the operation at this time would cause more damage than it would help. He was very blunt by Brent's bedside, now Brent is depressed. The Neurology surgeon is waiting on Brent to stabilize to do the repair work on the screw in his spine. The Orthopedic surgeons are waiting on the Neurologist to stabilize Brent's back, so we are on the same merry of round. At times I'm fearful of even updating the blog, because it seems to change each hour.

We solicit your prayers for Brent's healing and peace of mind, I can't tell you in words how much Kathy and I appreciate your prayers and support!

The ICU is getting strict on visiting hours, the hours are 9-11 am, 2-4 pm, and 8- 10 pm each day. Kathy and I are spending most of our time in Brent's room. Brent can have short visits, but tends to get worn out very quickly.

The roller coaster that is part of such an injury as Brent's can be very hard to handle. Continue to look to God for comfort and peace. Remember that doctor's tend to give the worst scenario to prepare you for whatever may come. God is with you. His angels will hold you up during these times. Trust in His leading. We are praying always.

I know it must seem like one step forward and two steps back as far as Brent's recovery is concerned. I know the waiting for a significant change must seem like an eternity. Watching your child grow weary and watching his pain must be unbearable. I know you would gladly trade places with him if you could. That is the way it is for parents. I also know that God being your heavenly parent feels your pain and Brent's pain and he is working on a plan. I continue to pray for your strength while waiting as well as for Brent to gain physical strength. I am so glad that you have been able to keep the blog going for those of us who are so far away. I probably check the blog 8-10 times a day. We think about ya'll and pray for ya'll continually. We love you. Lynnetta and Benny

I am praying hourly for Brent and the family. I know that God is right there with you. I know it may not seem like it now but He loves you all.

As you probably know, some doctors give the worst possible scenario and then you feel great when it doesn't happen; others give the best possible scenario and you're disappointed when you don't get there. Psalm 28:7 "The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for job and I will give thanks in song."

We wish we could be there supporting you, physically helping you, praying with you. Believing that God is in control tells us that there is a reason we don't understand for all the waiting. I am praying that a peace that passes all human understanding will fill you hearts and your weary minds at this time. Pete, Kathy, Brent, never allow satan to take away your hope and your faith. He's trying, but GOD is all powerful. He is your constant sorce of faith and hope. Allow Him to continually fill and nourish you especially now. We love and miss you so much. If you think of anything we can send to you let us know. nestof5@gmail.com or call Robin at 321-239-0888.

Tragedies such as this can be such a difficult, emotional roller coaster. Just remember the one contant in it is God. His strength will see you through.
